Tooth decay - Cambra: Carie Management by Risk Assessment
by: Dental Assistant Team
What is carie management by risk assessment? To a lot of our patient it is a life (tooth) saver in many ways.
With just a saliva test, we can now determine why some of you have recurrent decay within the year of your last checkup.
We all have bacteria in our mouth, some is good some is not. Bad bacteria, or plaque is our biggest enemy since it is what causes tooth decay.
The saliva test evaluates how much saliva you produce, what your PH level is, and the ability your saliva has to manage acids to avoid the development of plaque. This test, along with a close look at your food intake and habits, enables us to guide you in keeping tooth decay away.
For some, brushing, flossing and even regular professional cleanings are not enough to protect them against recurring tooth decay. For these particular patients, we take a closer look at their habits and routine relating to their food intake and use this easy saliva test.
The Cambra saliva test is a two visit process. The first visit takes just a few minutes to collect the saliva sample which will then be placed in an incubator for 48 hours. After the first visit you will be sent home with a questionnaire to fill out that. This will be our point of reference for the review of the results of the test during the second visit. After the review is complete, we will make recommendations based on the review of the results of the saliva test and we might recommend some dietary or habit changes and adjustments.
Let Cambra help you stay decay free! It is easy and will save you a lot of stress, pain and money!
