Our New Patient Exam Is One Of A Kind
by: Dental Assistant Team
Our new patient exams have always been what sets us apart as a dental practice. In fact, it’s likely you’ve never experienced anything quite like it before. We view this as not just a time to take a look at your mouth, but as time to get to know you as a person so we can better understand your needs.
Of course, our primary focus is your teeth. One of the doctors will take a look at your tooth structure, your gum health, and your bite.
But our exam is much more detailed as we are a whole-body wellness center. We offer additional services such as caries management assessments, aromatherapy, and nutritional counseling.
You can also expect to have your blood pressure taken and be screened for sleep apnea at that same visit, which includes a brief questionnaire and a quick visual check of the anatomy of your mouth. Sleep apnea is a serious, life-threatening condition that is very common and is unfortunately one of the most under-diagnosed conditions in medicine. Take a look at this informative video about Sleep Apnea - http://www.drsrohrer.com/sleeplanding_1.php
Taking care of your smile by improving the health of your gums and teeth are our passion, but sometimes we need to look at the big picture to treat you in the most effective ways, and our new patient exam allows us to set baselines as we move forward into treating you.
Naturally, our exam includes a through oral examination, including a detailed look at your tooth structure and gum health. We also use an intra-oral camera (http://www.drsrohrer.com/wall/65-Diagnostic-Tools-The-Intra-Oral-Camera.html), take diagnostic photos, x-rays, and sometimes perform bite analysis if our exam determines that there are bite issues.
We will spend about two hours taking all these records and getting to know you what your dental and medical history are. Our new patient exam is an amazing experience for both staff and patients alike, and is a great way to understand what is going on in your mouth and body.
